Executive Introduction to SysMLv1

Duration:

2 hrs

* Virtual * Live Instructor *

What is it?

This course provides executives and decision-makers with a high-level introduction to Systems Modeling Language (SysML) – the industry-standard language for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the four pillars of SysML, explore the nine diagram types, and learn how each diagram serves a unique purpose in systems engineering. The course will also cover essential SysML syntax and offer guidance on how to interpret models effectively. While participants will not be modeling themselves, they will develop the knowledge needed to engage with model-based discussions and make informed decisions about MBSE initiatives.

What do you gain?

  • Learn the fundamental building blocks of SysML and how they contribute to model-based engineering
  • Gain insight into the different types of diagrams and how they are used in system modeling
  • Understand when and why each SysML diagram is used in a system development effort
  • Become familiar with key elements of SysML notation and how they are structured within diagrams
  • Develop confidence in understanding and discussing SysML models without the need for hands-on modeling

Who should take it?

This course is designed for executives, managers, and decision-makers who need to understand SysML at a conceptual level to facilitate MBSE adoption, oversee system development efforts, and engage effectively with engineering teams.

What do I need to know before?

To fully engage with this course participants will need a computer with internet access and a large screen or external monitor. The instructor will be demonstrating SysML diagrams, and a larger screen will improve clarity and readability. A small phone or tablet is not recommended. It is also encouraged to have a working microphone – participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussions throughout the session.
